I just did a thing. A classic Mara moment. I just signed up for Golden Globe Race! And if you are not either in shock, or just a little bit worried for me now, it means I need to tell you a bit more about what this is.

The GGR is a retro sailing race where the rules are simple: You are gonna sail singlehanded, non-stop around the world in a sailboat with 1968-technology.

That means:

  • you are ALONE

  • you will be at sea for approximately 9 months

  • you must navigate only using a sextant

Actually, that means:

  • I will be alone

I will be sharing my entire journey as I prepare for, and take on one of the toughest sailing races on the planet. But this isn’t just about a race. It’s about chasing a dream that feels bigger than me: learning to sail alone for the first time, battling setbacks, fixing everything on an old boat, and finding strength when it feels impossible.

I am gonna share real stories from the ocean — storms, sunrises, and everything in between. Inspired by great Norwegian explorers, and motivated by my nieces to keep pushing for my dreams - I hope to show that the ocean is for everyone, and that we all belong here.
